Marlin Beach Hotel

Recently, my partner was throwing away some of his overwhelming collection of old travel stuff and ran across a Marlin Beach Hotel brochure.

Can't remember when we first went to Fort Lauderdale.   1973?, maybe 1974.  We stayed at Pier 66, down by the 17th Street intercoastal bridge.  On our next trip we stayed at the Marlin Beach Hotel.  It was little sleazy, after all it was the BA 70's, and it could have been better maintained.   But it was right in the middle of all the gay action.

For a few snippets of Lauderdale's gay history, including the Marlin Beach, visit Joe, My God blog of 30 Dec 2005.

The Marlin Beach was well know for its daily tea-dance.  Unfortunately it closed and was replaced by a Marriott aberration called Beach Place which opened in the summer of 1997.

I could not find a copyright notice on the brochure, so I decided to post it for posterity.
